today. wineries can now ship directly to your front door. you can take your dog along with you when you dine outside. but of course check with the restaurants to make sure they've policy allowing that. and state employees will have to pay more into the pensions up to 2%. plus it will take longer for them to vest into the retirement plans. in annapolis today, teresa goldsmith will be sworn in as the insurance commissioner. it regulates the state's insurance industry. she was appointed by governor o'malley to the public service commission in 2009. governor o'malley will be swearing in robert young to serve as director of the maryland state department of assets and taxation. changes in store for johns hopkins hospital. there's word that 160 clerical associates could be laid off. the hospital is transitioning to an electronic medical support system a spokesman says the workers might find new jobs at hopkins and the hospital is offering paid training. 5:34 making news around the nation only a central services

will be operating this morning in minnesota. that's because the state government is shut down. that means padlocks on state parks this 4th of july weekend many the democratic government and republicans couldn't come to an agreement on how to close a 5 billion dollar deficit. towering flanes in downtown charleston south carolina, witnesses -- flames in downtown charleston, south carolina, witnesses saw the fire spread and burn three buildings seven cars and one motorcycle. no one was hurt. authorities are looking into whether a serial arsonist may to be blame. in new orleans, a man is accused of robbing a convenience store while his 5- year-old son was by his side. the robbery caught on camera. he walked into a convenience store with his little boy. they bought a couple things and then headed back out to the car. the dad came back in and stole money from the cash register before taking off. the clerk managed to get a partial license plate number and police ended up catching the guy later on.

we have heard of snakes on plane and in this case it was another creature that caused a scare. jeff ellis says he fell asleep on a flight from seattle to anchorage. when he woke up, he felt something in his sleeve and didn't think anything of it. and then it tickled his arm a second time and he grabbed it and realized it was a scorpion. and it stunning him -- stung him. >> i got a scorpion and it stung me. >> i didn't believe him at first and i saw it. he held the napkin up for me to see and i saw the tail wiggling. and i pretty much jumped out of my seat. >> i would have screamed my

local soccer team is helping keep a maryland state trooper's memory alive. shaft hunter died in may when he lost control of his police cruiser while chasing a speeding motorcylist on interstate 95. during his off duty time, the former marine was involved with a soccer team in anne arundel county. now that team needs a little bit of help. sherrie johnon is here to tell you more about the story. >> reporter: well, for six years the team known as the blackhawks played soccer together. this group worked hard at a shot of the national competition. shaft hunter's son plays on the team and he sponsoreded them often. they were award the u.s. club soccer region champion and after hard work and dedication, they have advanced to a national soccer competition. the only issue is they he must raise about 30,000 dollars to attend that competition and they need a little help to get there. >> sponsor the kid to -- he sponsored the kids whenever he could. and at this . i know -- at this

key. the services will be held at 10 this morning at christ united methodist church on florida avenue in baltimore. new this morning, baltimore's summer jump-start warrant initiative will start summer -- rather is going to start in the next two weeks. mayor stephanie rawlings-breaks will -- blake will make an announcement. so far, they have made 635 arrests with this. carroll county sheriff's office is taking the law enforcement lead in the county. the deputies were proafl handled by state police. under the deal the sheriff office will be responsible for licensing and maintaining the property information data base and sexual president tourings. they will monitor the incidents on state and federal highways. investigators will try to figure out what caused a fire in downtown bolt that -- baltimore that broke out in a garage right around dinner time. it was close to patrick's pub
